Netherlands Embassy visits Jelgava
On 4 October 2011 a delegation of the Netherlands Embassy, headed by the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Latvia, His Exellency Mr. Jurriaan Kraak, visited Jelgava. The Netherlands’ Ambassador and his team were warmly received by the Chairman of Jelgava City Council Mr. Andris Rāviņš and his team to learn about developments in Jelgava and to discuss possibilities for strengthening trade, investment and cultural ties with the Netherlands.
In the morning, Ambassador Kraak and his team visited Industrial Centre 'NP Properties'. Later on the same morning Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Cornelis J. Groeneveld gave a presentation at Jelgava State gymnasium for students of this gymnasium and of the Jelgava State gymnasium on the Netherlands and on higher education in the Netherlands. The presentation was given jointly with the programme manager of the Holland Education Support Center in Riga, Ms. Sanita Lāce.
In the afternoon a seminar was held in the Competencies Development Centre on Business opportunities in the Netherlands”, followed by individual consultations. Presenters at the seminar were Mr. Juris Dreimanis, Senior Officer for Trade and Investment Promotion and Mr. Groeneveld.
Ambassador Kraak and Senior Officer for Culture, Media Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Mrs. Ieva Upmane, visited at the same time the Latvian Agricultural University for a presentation and a tour of the University.
