Ambassador Kraak visits Valmiera

On 29 September 2011 Ambassador of the Netherlands H. E. Mr. Jurriaan Kraak visited Valmiera. He visited Valmiera City Council, two enterprises in the surroundings of Valmiera and gave a lecture in Vidzeme University College.

On 29 September Ambassador of the Netherlands H.E. Mr. Jurriaan Kraak visited Valmiera. He met the Chairman of Valmiera City Council Mr. Inesis Bokis to discuss developments in Valmiera and possibilities for cooperation with the Netherlands.

The Ambassador also visited two enterprises in the surroundings of Valmiera: wood processing enterprise BYKO Latvia Ltd. in Koceni, which has trade contacts with the Netherlands, and peat extaction enterprise Unguri Ltd. in Raiskums.

Ambassador Kraak gave a public lecture in Vidzeme University College „The Netherlands today: society and politics”, focusing on developments in the modern Dutch society, embedded in historical context and touching upon EU issues.

Also on 29 September Consellor/ Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Cornelis J. Groeneveld visited Valmiera Viesturs Secondary school and Valmiera state gymnasium for a presentation on the Netherlands and on higher education in the Netherlands.

The presentation was given jointly with the programme manager of the Holland Education Support Center in Riga, Ms. Sanita Lāce.

On 29 September a presentation of the Embassy „Business opportunities in the Netherlands” was given for enterpreneurs of Valmiera and Valmiera region, followed by individual consultations, which took place in the premises of Valmiera City Council.

Presenters at the seminar were Mr. Juris Dreimanis, Senior Officer for Trade and Investment Promotion and Mr. Groeneveld.
