March 12, 2013 The Netherlands has committed itself to once again fill one of the “blocks” in the Baltic Air Police Mission implemented by NATO. This mission takes care of air policing-tasks in the Baltics, keeping the airspace safe by offering capabilities of NATO-allies to the three Baltic countries. It has now been decided that the Netherlands will station four F-16 fighter-jets and around 100 personnel in the Baltics during the first months of 2017. Ambassador Henk G.C. van den Dool delivered the good news personally to Latvian Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks, at the exact same moment that Dutch Defense-Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert officially informed the three Baltic Ambassadors in The Hague.
